There's No Such Thing as Good Enough

What if life is just a race with yourself to see how much of your beauty and love you can express before you die—and the fear of not being good enough is keeping you stuck at the starting blocks of the race?
You're not good enough. Neither am I.
And we're in good company, because deep down, everyone is afraid they're not as good as everyone else—or at least the people they admire.
But starting today, you have access to the understanding that makes every dream possible.
Because here's the secret. Good enough is not a thing.
I’m so excited about this topic! I feel like it's the most life-changing thought we can think, and I'm on a mission to spread it far and wide.
There is no such thing as good enough. And there's no such thing as NOT good enough.
Not-good-enough is a powerful energy and thought-form that's always present and available for us to tap into.
But when we choose to observe it without stepping into it, we're free to start expressing our potential in a much greater way than ever before.
We don't notice it at a conscious level, but the fear of not being good enough is always operating below the surface, holding us back in so many ways.
We hate the way it feels. And so we avoid taking actions that trigger it.
Actions like following our guidance and taking steps to share our gifts with the world.
Instead, we spend our days and months and years trying to become (or be thought of as) good enough.
But since there's no such thing as good enough, the most we get is a temporary reprieve from the not-good-enough feeling.
Good enough and not good enough are just two sides of an imaginary, illusory coin.
They are traps that keep us stuck and unfulfilled.
Every time we are afraid to take action toward our dreams, we're stuck inside a cage–the Not Good Enough Cage–trying to perfect ourselves before we take action.
Stop for a minute and think about where that's true in your own life.
One time I was in the middle of reading a book I liked. I was really enjoying the way the author wrote, and halfway through the book a thought flashed into my mind, “Wouldn't it be great if sometime in the future we were both at the same speaking event and I got to meet her?”
And on the heels of that thought came a TIDAL WAVE of not-good-enough feelings (you know the feeling, I know you do).
And I sat there and thought, “Wow, there it is.”
So I took a step back and observed the feeling.
Then I thought, “You know what, it's okay if I'm not ‘good enough.’ I could take my not-good-enough little old self and get up on the stage and do my thing.
I could just give the gift that's inside me to give, because that gift has its own power and its own magic.”
What a shift!
I know from experience that sharing my gifts gives me a different kind of feeling than anything else.
When I’m in that feeling, it’s as if the idea of "good enough" and "not good enough" disappear.
Think about that for a moment.
Take that into your heart, and set an intention to apply it to yourself moving forward in the best way possible.
Remember, each one of us comes into life with a unique soul purpose: our own divine blueprint.
It's something that unfolds for each of us over the course of our lifetime, finding new ways to express itself every day.
You might have a good sense of the essence of your soul purpose, or you might feel unsure. But either way, think of one inspired thing you want to create in your life.
Now think of one action you want to take on behalf of that dream.
If you're like most of us, you didn't just now think up that action—you’ve been inspired to take that action for some time.
But it’s probably the case that a not-good-enough feeling has been keeping you from taking the action.
So check in right now and tap into what that feeling feels like to you.
Now create a shift by taking control of your own mindset:
Imagine you're taking the action without having to be “good enough.”
Imagine you're taking the action without it having to be good enough. And without you having to be good enough. Neither you nor the action has to be good enough.
Just do it—just take the action, because there are people out there it might help.
Feel that shift.
Do the thing you're inspired to do, because it might just help one person.
Feel the energy of that thought.
The feeling of being not good enough is like a cage. And when we shift into a new pattern of thoughts, it's as if the bars of the cage disappear...like they were never there.
So take your inspired action, even if you're not good enough. Know that you don't have to be good enough, because there’s no such thing as good enough.
Focus on the people out there your gifts might help.
Have faith that your dreams are inside you for a reason. And every time you express them—even in a tiny way—you bring more light into the world.
Instead of trying to be good enough (which is not a thing, remember!) decide today that you're going to take your action, whatever it is, even if you are never going to be good enough.
Don't do it in the sense that other people are good enough and you're not good enough but you're going to do anyway.
Do it with the knowledge that nobody is good enough, because there's no such thing as good enough!
It's just an illusion that keeps us trapped from expressing everything inside of us.
Good enough and not good enough are both false.
Let them both go, because when those things are gone, all that's left is you and the magic of the thing that's trying to come forth from within you.
Notice how this feels in your body.
No one is good enough. And no one is not good enough. The only difference between you and the people you admire is that they “did the thing.”
(And here's the truth. They don't feel good enough, either!)
