Be Yourself with the Help of Guardian Trees

When you pretend to be different than you are, you weaken yourself.
But when you can stand in your own unique energy, knowing the value of your authentic way of being (quirks and all), you empower yourself—and you shine.
You’ve probably already heard that life is designed to work best when you're true to yourself. But it’s easier said than done!
Most of us get trapped in a cycle of people-pleasing and approval seeking at an early age.
We learn that approval feels good, like love, and disapproval feels awful, like rejection (and a judgment that we’re not good enough).
We train ourselves to people-please in order to avoid the awful feeling of disapproval and rejection, and in doing so, we give everyone in the world the power to judge whether or not we’re good enough.
But you can’t be motivated by a need to please others and be yourself at the same time, and only by being yourself can you be truly happy.
Take a moment now to tap into two different states.
First, think of a situation where you are, or have been, worried about doing the right thing in order to fit in or be seen as good enough. As you bring the situation to mind, notice how it feels.
Take note now of how this type of situation feels in your body. Think of a word or phrase that describes these feelings.
Now, think of a situation in which you feel safe completely being yourself, and notice how that feels.
Take note now of how this type of situation feels in your body. Think of a word or phrase that describes these feelings.
When I’m in a situation with a friend or loved one with whom I feel safe being completely myself, it feels like my spirit is set free. I can feel my energy expanding and dancing with a sense of freedom
and joy.
My body is completely relaxed.
You deserve to be in this second state all the time, so in this post we’ll begin a process of transformation you can return to again and again to become more and more comfortable being yourself, and more and more tapped into the energies that make you feel happy and fully alive.
Making the change will take courage on your part, but I promise you, it will be worth it!

At the core of this issue is a need to feel safe.
So our new goal is to embody the truth that being ourselves is actually safer than fitting in.
You can start by beginning an ongoing practice of getting into alignment with your Greater Self, the eternal part of you that’s completely aligned with the truth of your being.
Staying consciously connected to your Greater Self will help you stay in a state of connection with your own unique beauty and value.
A conscious connection with your Greater Self also brings with it a powerful sense of safety, and this safety creates a stable foundation for you as you get more and more comfortable being yourself in every situation.
Call forth a house of self-love now—an energetic house filled with all the self-love you are meant to have.
Feel its strong energetic walls around you as you say, “I love myself.”
Feel a ring of wise, old Trees standing around your house, and connect to their nurturing presence.
Feel the peace and wisdom they radiate, and feel the deep love they have for you.
Let this love soak into your body, mind, and spirit until it fills every part of you.
Now tune in to your own heart, and feel the presence of your Greater Self there.
Open yourself to this presence and allow it to grow until it fills you, surrounds you, and stretches out to fill your house of self-love.
Notice the way it feels to embody this much of your Greater Self.
Notice the way it feels to accept and embody the love of the Trees.
Now say again, “I love myself.” Does it feel different this time?
Starting now, we can trade the false safety of fitting in for the power we generate by being ourselves.
We can adopt a new goal: to be more fully ourselves in every moment, expressing more and more of our natural way of being in everything we do.
Begin to notice the times when you are acting out a role or people-pleasing or changing your natural behavior to something “better.” (These are all very familiar to me!)
Don’t worry about changing any of this; just noticing is the first step.
Think back to a situation in the recent past when you were uncomfortable being yourself. What exactly about the situation made you feel uncomfortable?
Bring the situation to life in your mind’s eye now.
Feel yourself within this situation once more, but this time, allow the energy of your Greater Self to fill you and spread out around you.
Feel the love of the Earth supporting you. And feel the love and wisdom of the Trees surrounding you like a warm hug.
Now bring all your energy back into your physical being and relax into the energy of your authentic self.
As you do, notice what you feel in your heart.
See yourself back in this uncomfortable situation, but this time full of the power of your Greater Self, surrounded and uplifted by the love of the Tree Guardians and the Earth, and relaxing into the safety of being yourself.
Now come back into the present moment, but stay connected to your Greater Self, the loving Earth, the Guardian Trees, and the safety of relaxing into the real you.
As you go through the days ahead, set an intention to become aware when you’re uncomfortable being yourself.
Don’t try to force yourself to change anything; simply repeat the process we’ve just gone through, and realign with the support you need to return to your own beautiful, authentic nature.
